WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DOES STALCO COLLECT?

Stalco limits the collection and use of Your information to that which is necessary to fulfill identified purposes or to deliver requested information, products or services to You. If we intend to use Your information in any way we didn’t tell You about previously, we will obtain Your consent for the new purpose or use prior to doing so. Stalco does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18.

WHEN DOES STALCO DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Stalco may disclose Your personal information to those of its affiliates and related companies that agree to treat it in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Stalco will not, without Your permission, disclose Your personal information to unaffiliated third parties except that Stalco reserves the right to disclose Your personal information to: (i) third party service providers for purposes related to supporting our business (e.g., fulfillment services, technical support, delivery services) and providing You with information that may be of interest to You (if You have opted in to receiving such information) in which case we will require such third parties to agree to treat it in accordance with this Policy; and (ii) to third parties in connection with a sale, assignment, merger, amalgamation, plan of arrangement or other transfer of the Stalco business (including but not limited to all pre-sale, assignment, merger, amalgamation, plan of arrangement or transfer activities and all transaction negotiations and due diligence activities) to which the information relates, in which case we will require any such buyer, assignee, successor party, transferee or other party related to the transaction to agree to treat the information in accordance with this Policy.

We may from time to time use outside third party suppliers to do work for us involving some of Your information – for example, to perform computer services on our behalf, to analyze survey results or marketing data or to administer to manage promotions or contests or for other reasonable purposes. We select the company carefully and confirm that it uses privacy and security standards that meet Stalco’s requirements. If such third parties are located outside of Canada, Stalco will notify You prior to any such transfer taking place.

Except with Your consent or as described in this Policy, Stalco will otherwise only disclose Your personal information to third parties in the following limited circumstances: (i) if a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena, court order or order of an administrative tribunal or other body authorized to compel the disclosure of such information legally requires Stalco to do so; (ii) if the rights or property of Stalco, its affiliates, subsidiaries, third party service providers or the others are in jeopardy; and (iii) if the personal safety of users of the Stalco website or other members of the public are in jeopardy. In certain circumstances, Stalco may have to collect, use or disclose information without consent for its protection. For example, we may do so to detect, investigate or prevent fraud.

Stalco may, however, disclose aggregated information that does not allow You to be personally identified to third parties. Stalco does not sell, trade, or rent Your personal information to others for marketing purposes.

When You visit the Stalco websites, those sites may use various technologies to collect information from You while You are visiting. Such technologies allow the Stalco sites to collect a range of non-personally identifiable information, including Your Internet Protocol (IP) address (a unique identifier automatically assigned to Your computer when logging onto the Internet), the type of Web browser and operating system You use, the date and time You visit the Stalco sites, the specific pages You visit on a Stalco sites and the address of the site(s) You visited before coming to a Stalco site.

Stalco typically uses such information for a variety of purposes, such as to administer the Stalco sites, customize the Stalco sites to Your preferences, and compile aggregated statistics for marketing and research purposes. Stalco reserves the unrestricted right to use this non-personal information, including, but not limited to, selling, leasing, permitting access to, or otherwise transferring it to our affiliates, business partners, advertisers and other third parties.

Stalco may also collect information about You and Your use of the Stalco sites through the use of “cookies”. Cookies are small text files that store information about Your interactions with a particular website, either temporarily (known as a “temporary” or “session” cookie, and deleted once You close Your browser window) or more permanently on the hard drive of Your computer (known as a “permanent” or “persistent cookie”). We may use cookies that:
Allow third party vendors, including Google, to show our ads on sites on the internet
Allow third party vendors, including Google, to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our websites.

Subject to legal and contractual requirements, You may change or withdraw Your consent to Stalco’s collection, use or disclosure of Your personal information at any time by contacting us as noted below or by such other means as may be available from time to time – such as, for example, “unsubscribing” for services to which You may have subscribed. Withdrawing Your consent will generally not affect Your relationship with Stalco but doing so may limit Stalco’s ability to provide products or services to You. We will advise You of the implications, if any, of withdrawing Your consent.

AGGREGATE INFORMATION

Stalco may collect aggregated, anonymous information (such as demographic and profile data, usage and selection data and similar information and data) about You, including in connection with Your use of a Stalco site, Your participation in various Stalco promotions or contests and otherwise in connection with the purchase of Stalco products and use and/or share that information with other third parties (such as Stalco service providers, agents, marketing consultants and advertisers) in order to better understand and learn more about our customers and their preferences, improve our products, services and the Stalco sites and for related marketing and research purposes. Any such aggregated information will not contain personally identifiable information about You.

RETENTION

Stalco will keep Your information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, unless and to the extent a longer retention is permitted or required by law. Your information is destroyed when it is no longer needed or it is converted to an aggregated and anonymous form. The length of time we keep Your personal information varies depending on the reason it was collected and the nature of the information. For legal reasons, we may keep information beyond the end of Your relationship with us.

ACCURACY & ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION

You have the right to access, verify, rectify and update Your personal information. Stalco takes reasonable steps to ensure Your personal information is as accurate, complete and up-to-date as is necessary to meet the purposes for which the information was collected. If You notify us that Your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, we will take steps to correct, delete, or add to it, as appropriate.

You may contact Stalco to request to know what personal information Stalco may have collected and retained about You and how that information is being used. Upon request, and subject to the privacy rights of others and applicable laws, we will make that personal information available to You.

SAFEGUARDS AND SECURITY

Stalco uses reasonable efforts to protect information that You provide to Stalco once it has been received by Stalco. Stalco employs physical, administrative and technical safeguards, reasonably appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to safeguard Your personal information against loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure and alteration. Stalco uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology, an encryption technology used to encrypt information sent from Your computer to our servers over the Internet. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Although Stalco uses reasonable efforts to safeguard Your information, Stalco cannot ensure or guarantee that any information You provide to Stalco is completely secure from individuals who might attempt to deliberately evade security measures, including by intercepting transmissions over the Internet. You provide Stalco with Your information at Your own risk.

In order to protect the security and confidentiality of any personally identifiable information supplied by You to Stalco (such as website passwords and similar information relating to or concerning You) You are responsible to ensure all such information is kept confidential and secure by You.
